Texas Hold'em Poker Hand Rankings

 

Listed below are the Texas Hold'em poker hands, which are the same for all poker games that use the 'high' hand to win.

The hand ranking strengths are listed from the very best (#1) poker hand to the worst poker hand (#10).

 

#1 - Royal Flush

A Royal Flush is the very best poker hand. It consists of a straight from 10 to Ace with all the same suits.

#2 - Straight Flush

Any five cards that have sequential cards with all the same suits.

#3 - Four of a Kind

Any four cards of the same rank. Also know as quads.

#4 - Full House

Any hand that consists of three cards of the same rank plus two cards of the same rank. In the example here we would call this fours full or fours full of sevens.

#5 - Flush

Any five cards of the same suit. In this example we would call this hand Ace high Flush. In the event of two or more players having Flushes the winning hand is the hand with the highest card(s).

#6 - Straight

Any five sequential cards of different suits. In our example we have a nine high Straight. Note: The Ace can either be used as a low card or high card, e.g. A-2-3-4 5 for a five high Straight (also known as the Wheel) or 10-J-Q-K-A for an Ace high Straight.

#7 - Three of a Kind

Any three cards of the same rank. This hand is also know as Trips or a Set. The above hand could be called Three of a Kind 6's, Trip 6's or a Set of 6's.

#8 - Two Pair

Any two cards of the same rank together with any other two cards of the same rank.

#9 - One Pair

Any two cards of the same rank with any other three cards.

---

 

#10 - High Card

The single highest card in the hand. In this example the hand would be called Ace high.
